Client Problem: This start-up high-tech manufacturer had a patented technology that had the potential to outperform any competitors in a niche within homeland security and medical applications. The manufacturer hoped to attract investment for further development by clearly understanding the market potential for its technology.
McManis & Monsalve Solution and Results: Through open source research, selected interviews, and analysis of the results by both McManis & Monsalve analysts and seasoned industry executives, we concluded that the homeland security market was heavily saturated with technology similar to our client’s, and that the healthcare market had a more defined potential. However, we also found general skepticism among a sampling of end users that the device would actually work. All interest from potential developmental partners and value-added resellers was contingent upon the prototype passing a rigorous and expensive set of performance tests. Based on our findings, the manufacturer was able to better assess the potential return on additional investment.
